fighting eel fall/resort 2011

parker * harper

i have been feeling a bit style deprived so let's spend the week admiring fall looks from a few of our favorite designers! last winter, fighting eel's fishie tote caught my eye so you can imagine my delight upon finding the whimsical pattern revived for lan & rona's resort 2011 collection. mixed in are vibrant tie-dyes issued in flowy tops and versatile tube dresses-slash-skirts along with gorgeous structured sheaths (dress camryn earns a special mention for its thoughtfully placed stripes) that promise to transition easily from 9-to-5 to date night.

since a fall 2011 peek is overdue, a few favorites have also been rounded up for your viewing pleasure. i can't quite decide between the bright pops of emerald or the elegant cream colored silhouettes . . . so sophisticated!

more to adore after the jump . . . plus details on this weekend's sample sale.

alexa * summer
camryn * tatum
moon x dara * irie x charlie * ti

aloha love: cameron hawaii

the super cute tee collection by cameron hawaii is finally free from my archives of summer possibilities! my very first glimpse of the collection became an instant crush with many of the sunny designs an especially welcome antidote when homesickness hits (a bit too often lately).

the line originally began in-house at hic before eventually spinning off into an indie company helmed by bobby ikeda and mike clegern. their muse? the joie de vivre of a young princess ka'iulani (her papa is found in mike's family tree) translated for modern day lovelies who adore their island home.

more sweet aloha after the jump!

to share an extra helping of aloha with CH fans in japan, over the summer the sweetest tote was introduced to help the recovery efforts for last spring's earthquake and tsunami.

scout for your favorite designs at your neighborhood stockist (the list is currently mia on the website but a few possibilities include flower child on oahu, persimmon in waikoloa & pink by nature in makawao), or click over to the online shop and save 25% off when your order tallies up to $50.

island crush: aloha shimmer

i first spotted the lovely isla from so'mace rocking an extra helping of sparkle this summer compliments of one hula girl's aloha tank, and was instantly smitten with its sand dollar "o" and simple shimmer.

happily, the design arrived in ohg's shop just in time for aloha friday and is stocked in sizes small to xl.

$44 online + in-store.

p.s. island stockists include becca beach, global creations & lily lotus.

sunset on the beach

the graduate cardigan

while islanders can continue to wear all the pretty looks tailor-made for tropical temperatures, the mercury has begun to dip on my side of the pacific and i am once again coveting cozy coverups for chilly days and nights spent by the california seaside. it's not often when a collection captures my fancy from head to toe, yet this fall began to look much more fetching after spotting quiksilver's qsw line which invited kaua'i-raised and sf-based artist & designer serena mitnik-miller to be their muse.

in addition to opening up her closet filled with vintage to inspire the w's design team, serena stepped into her studio and sketched out the most gorgeous prints to be translated into jersey, silk and woolen wearables. the mix of toasty geometric cardis, intriguing silk slips, and reinvented toppings perfectly capture the indie coastal lovely, the oft forgotten companion of flirty beach goddess and luxe resort bohemian.

my wishlist is smitten.

more to adore after the jump!

nouveau deco dress

the cardis may hint of winter bonfires on the beach and rainy days spent curled up inside with a favorite book and a mug of hot cocoa, but the charming silk dresses will certainly make an effortless transition upon summer's return.

the entire autumn 2011 collection can be peeked and ordered on quiksilver's website while sf friends can shop select styles at general store, the delightful boutique curated by serena and her hubby mason.

  • where: 4035 judah street, sf
  • shop hours: mon to fri, 11a to 7p & sat/sun, 10a to 7p

island crush: koa sunnies

once upon a time, i cracked open my birthday piggy bank to splurge on a pair of iconic wayfarers.

these are much nicer.

kicks hawaii gathered up koa remnants from local woodworkers and island tree farms to be upcycled into stylish sunglasses by shwood, a portland maker who crafted 200 limited edition pairs of its canby design to celebrate the honolulu shop's tenth anniversary.

the love & aloha etched inside the frame (font by sig zane!) is an especially sweet reminder of home.

$180 in-store + online.

p.s. peek the manufacturing process which is made in the usa from frame to finish here.
