as mentioned in my earlier post, h|h will be quiet tomorrow in honor of the blogger's day of silence hosted by for japan with love who shared the very cool shelterbox, a brilliant collection of essentials for those displaced by the earthquake and tsunami. with my windfall of hours (yep, the scoop requires endless clicks scouting out deal news and exhaustive post editing), part of my reclaimed time will be spent tending to the details of my 'ohana's donation to help japan.

hifi's highly anticipated pop-up shop opens tomorrow with ten days of island style featuring indie trunkshows, designer workshops, craft stations and more!

save your appetite for slow art friday when local artists and eateries unite for empty bowl hawaii 2011. scoop up a handmade bowl & enjoy a serving of gourmet goodness by alan wong's, town, and 18 more island restaurants. proceeds benefit hawaii meals on wheels and river of life mission.

the fighting eel flagship is donating all profits from its emblem and fish totes (featured in january) to the japan red cross through the end of march.

family sunday returns to the academy of arts with a celebration of all things little with petite dance and music performances along with live painting by artist-in-residence katie smalls.

just a few blocks away, show off your origami skills during the flock of prayers benefit. 1000 cranes will be folded and a $1 donation gets you a personalized message tucked inside before the paper flock is sent off to cheer japan's keiki.

afterwards, stroll the charity bazaar with goods donated by local artisans and photographers (mahalo dallas!) plus an old timey bake sale!

in kailua, mu'umu'u heaven reveals the art installation made of waimanalo beach castoffs then presents the refuse artist series featuring prints by raymond pettibon, pam longobardi, judith selby lang & richard lang, dianna cohen, and lila roo.

on the big island, say hello to savvy butik during the kona shop's sneak peek (delayed after the tsunami swept water into the about-to-debut seaside storefront). festivities include giveaways from fighting eel and other store favorites plus a trunk show by the north shore's aphrodite jewelry.
