now that the scoop is all pau, my reward is a bake session in the kitchen to whip up a small batch of devil's food cupcakes. yum!
tonight's first friday highlights for those strolling through the chinatown arts district:
on saturday, don't let the raindrops deter you from missing the butik's fourth anniversary festivities. designer florencia arias will be stopping by with her spring 2011 collection as will local stylephiles [ki-ele], organik, and many more!
p.s. in-store celebrations include 20% off shop purchases.
ginger13 designer cindy yokoyama recently returned home to the islands after spending four months in nyc studying fine jewelry design. the website just relaunched a few days ago and is filled with fresh adornment blending the line's island glam roots with a hint of urban edge.
lava rock beads mix with vintage lucite and earthy gemstones in the island girl in the city collection while new eco-friendly styles made with recycled glass and wooden findings have popped up in the green collection. i am particularly fond of the naturally bold design of the black and white striped shells found in the budget-friendly starfish line. it seems so delightfully punk rock, no?
while the majority of ginger13's pieces are priced well under $100, the gently priced starfish offerings can be yours for under $25.
p.s. to celebrate the introduction of her three new collections, cindy is offering 15% off all online orders through the weekend!
by far my favorite red carpet moment on oscar night was the tie-dye ball gown designed by christian siriano discovered during the pre-show marathon. i was immediately reminded of fighting eel's spring 2011 collection filled with carefree bohemian loveliness rocking a modern day riff on the wardrobe staple found inside any good hippie's closet.
from a swoon-y goddess maxi to floaty tops, i just love how designers lan chung and rona bennett have put their spin on the tie-dye trend. the abstract swirls and artful splatters are grounded by this season's palette of smoky neutrals brightened by the occasional pop of color making each piece a striking complement when paired with the style essentials.
see if you agree with more of my favorite spring looks after the jump . . .
spring 2011 has not yet arrived in the online shop, so hele over to your neighborhood stockist or fe's gorgeous chinatown flagship:
