shop toast spring peeks

how happy would your little one's easter basket be with the addition of shop toast's adorable new cheeky chickies? an empty egg is hidden inside the fabric peeps waiting to be filled with your favorite petite treats. 'tis just one dollar a piece although, due to tiny parts, not intended for keiki under age 8.

and, toast fans will be swooning over all the delightful new offerings for springtime including fresh favor designs, more custom goodness to dress up your party invites, and a boy's day edition of the always popular heartstump.

jeremy and michelle's continuing collaboration with joie studio is about to welcome a wedding paper collection designed to coordinate with toast's favor line. TOAST to JOIE's official introduction happens next month when tina makes her national stationery show debut, but she kindly shared a sneak peek with me to share with you.

find the entire lineup of spring projects from kaimuki's favorite design duo after the jump!

the perfect pair

orders for the TOAST to JOIE wedding collection will be accepted later this spring at joie studio, shop toast, and select retailers. and, say hello to the sweet trio of kokesHE which just arrived online and in shop toast's storefront:

p.s. mark your calendar for next monday & another shop toast children's day cutie!

sabrina cd giveaway

happy monday! first, please accept my apologies if you stopped by midori jewelry's booth during the i love kailua town block party, and discovered a certain someone (ahem.) posted the wrong dollar amounts to be spent before you scored some bonus loot. the correct numbers were tucked away in a later email which i had completely forgotten about while playing hooky in san diego.

blush.

after that awful discovery in my morning mail, local lovely sabrina's absolutely charming cd the hawk & the hunter (produced and pressed thanks to kickstarter) went for a spin to brighten my gloomy day (literally as the marine layer blanketed my neighborhood all monday long). despite more than one ipod per inhabitant, our music library remains in limbo as my one and only hi-fi geek wrestles with plans to build his dream music server to house thousands o' cds. since downloads remain a no-no around here as compressed music loses all the magical bits of sonic wonder, paypal whisked my ten dollars to sabrina who sent along one cd for me and one cd to share with a lucky reader.

isn't she a sweetie?

the album (recorded in portland - sabrina's home away from hawaii) reminds me of whispers from a secret journal filled with pages of melancholy and broken hearts & daydreams and hopeful beginnings mingled with gentle guitar chords, cool piano tinkles, and a little ukulele as a sweet wink to her island home.

swoon.

new peeks: pua jewelry & pareu

hello hello! after my mister clocked seven straight 12-hour days, it was hard to resist the chance to spend time together so i hope you will excuse my absence over the past few days. one peek of the gorgeous new goodness by pua jewelry, and you will understand why i could not stay away for too long without sharing all the latest loveliness from one of my favorite local designers.

along with new shimmer, pua designer lauren hewett caldiero is also welcoming a most becoming addition with pretty pareu channeling low-key elegance and pure polynesian grace. inspired by both her own and her mom's extensive stockpile of pareu sourced from around the pacific, lauren enlisted her hubby (who just happens to be one of town's top chefs) to help transform squares of fabric into muted and sunny tie-dye while modern tropical prints taken from her sketchbook round out the offerings.

with so many readers sharing my crush over pua's line of handmade adornment, you will be delighted to learn that lauren and friend & fellow maker meleana have spent the past few months readying their very own atelier stocked with their collections of island girl sparkle, flirty pareu, and homegrown carryalls.

more looks to woo you plus studio details after the jump!

the online shop is in the midst of a makeover, but until it debuts you can peek all the new pua goodness over on facebook. or, hele over to becca beach at the kahala to scoop up your very own pareu.

and, happy news! lauren and meleana will be welcoming friends and fans during their official studio warming this weekend. say hello to the designers and shop all the latest loveliness while enjoying pupus, sweets and sips!

  • when: fri, apr 8th - 5p to 8p & sat, apr 9th - 9a to 12p
  • where: 949 mccully avenue, suite 12
  • studio hours: by appointment only

p.s. the aloha friday scoop will be on hiatus since i am off to celebrate our dear friends' wedding this weekend. enjoy the april flowers!
