diy wine

. . . well, kind of. thanks to punahou grad shannon ball, tending to the vines & expensive fermentation equipment are no longer a requirement for aspiring vintners. test your winemaking skills at his shop, wine the experience, where you can blend your own wine from over 50 varietals and a few months later your wine will be ready to be bottled.

slap on some custom labels and you have a one-of-a kind gift for birthdays, weddings & the holidays. if you don't drink it all first.

hawaii fashion plates

super cyclone + rock-n-road cd holder

before you toss your rainbow license plate (because, of course, you would never trash the coveted king kamehameha design), see how little earth transforms old plates into cool accessories like purses, wine totes and photo albums.

all 50 states are represented so you can take your favorite state with you wherever you go.

goats make good cheese

there's even more to love about upcountry maui with the award winning goat cheese from surfing goat dairy where owners thomas & eva-marie kafsack have been whipping up a mouth watering variety of cheeses since setting up shop a few years ago.

serious foodies will want to add the shark bite line, which features gourmet ingredients like truffles and gold flakes, to their wish list while cheese lovers on a budget can savor aloha chèvre cheeses enhanced with maui lavender, mangos & more.

if you want to learn more about the cheese making process, check out one of the many tours available where you can try your hand at herding or milking the goats that make all this cheesy goodness possible.

better than free peanuts

it's unlikely that my wish came true today on aloha airline's 60th anniversary, but at least the rest of us can fly in style with t-shirts from aeroblue designs. the kailua company is reviving vintage aviation graphics like aloha's flower power which may trigger fond flashbacks of the days of pan am bags & short security lines.

snail mail goes hawaiian

aloha nui postcard

stationary is my kryptonite. my paper box is overflowing with cards that i couldn't pass up so i'm on a mission to whittle down my collection by going old school and sending notes to friends via the postal service again. my real motivation being, of course, the freedom to stock up on all the new designs that i fancy without any guilt.

and then i found pacifica island art's website today. this is the place to go if you are doing your part to keep the art of letterwriting alive & well in the age of e-mail & you love vintage hawaiian designs.

sun at the source of life

the best thing is that pacifica offers quantity discounts & free shipping on orders over $25. i think i'm going to need a larger box.
