photographer clark little and artist christopher reiner will also be in the house as will details on maui's good home, the first leed-certified gold home in hawaii (with a luxe price tag of $2.5m, dare we hope that affordable sustainable design is in the works for the rest of us?).

mu'umu'u heaven is putting an eco-twist on the traditional post-holiday sale and making it a green friday instead. there will be in-store specials throughout the day, and stop by in the evening to nosh on pupus while checking out the latest in-house styles, new handbags from meleana, and the ongoing photo exhibit of jyoti mau's work.

speaking of lanikai, muumuu heaven will be throwing their doors open on saturday evening for a little shindig to celebrate everybody's mother . . . earth, that is. pupus, champagne and massages are promised while you check out the latest creations from designer deb mascia.

escape to muumuu heaven

big congratulations to deb & eric of mu'umu'u heaven who opened the doors to their new showroom in kailua last week! from the slideshow posted online, it looks like the charming boutique was created with a lot of love combined with a crafty reuse of recycled goodies found in the streets.

the collection is expanding beyond muumuu heaven's lovely skirts created from vintage muumuus to pretty island style halter & wrap dresses (the latter made of bamboo! it is so nice to see more local designers embracing sustainable fibers in their work). and if you want to accessorize, the shop also stocks handbags from denise tjarks, a fellow muumuu deconstructionist from kauai.

the only downside is that the hangers are currently bare in the online shop so, for the time being, you will have to make your way to kailua (or email) to add a little muumuu heaven to your closet.
